Tina: Haven't Talked to Ike in 35 Years

Tina Turner's rep issued the following statement about the death of the music legend's former husband Ike.

"Tina is aware that Ike passed away earlier today," the rep told TMZ. "She has not had any contact with him in 35 years. No further comment will be made."

Simply the best.

17. Tina definitely made the right choice. Why release a statement with fake sentiments? Ike had never owned up to how sick and abusive he was, but he was right about one thing: he had legendary influence on Rock & Roll, and soul - and without him we would not have the Tina we know today. So while he battled demons, was a hypocrite, and a wife beater, I still think of the music and say RIP.

21. Ike was a talented musician. But lets face it: Most people have forgotten about him. If some do remember him, it's because of the brutality that he heaped on his wife. When she left that drug addict, his children later came to live with her. The son he had before he met her. He was a total brute because he was probably never completely sober or without drugs in his system. Too bad he died before admitting his guilt. He will have to answer for all that he has done as do we all.

22. Too bad Ike couldn't take Phil Spector with him. Talk about TRUE 'Duets' for the Grammy's.

Sadly, some radio stations across the USA will have kind words for him and I'm SURE there will be tributes to him also.

I heard he died last week, but the police couldn't respond in time. They probably thought it was "another" domestic violence call from his home. The Coroner showed up immediately when called though.

24. The officil divorce date may be later than when they actually had contact. was much harder to get it done back then. and he probably fought it in court. hence the apparent discrepancy.

25. It is a sad day when anyone passes and certainly when it is one of Rock n Rolls Pioneers. I'm sure that Ike learned about life like most of us by just living it day after day. His story is just 1 of millions of wife beaters out there and it was only amplified because of his status. There are ingnorant people all over this nation who are beating their wives and girlfriends and they should know better in todays world but they don't. Let Ike Rest In Peace and may he join the rest in Heavens Band.......... Thanks for the music Ike Turner you made me smile on the days your music played on the radio when I was a child!

28. Ike was not the bad guy they made him out to be. I am from Saint Louis and used to go see them when they first started out, at the Manhatten club on the east side.
IMHO Ike was the real Star.
